Did you know that a ‘state of ease’ is inside each of us that we can learn to easily access?
At a day’s end, we’ve all likely experienced a mix of good moments and some not so good.
Frustration, discontentment or other negative emotions can adversely affect our overall well-being – unless we stop it.
Did you know that a ‘state of ease’ is inside each of us that we can learn to easily access?
Honestly, just acknowledging how the day made us feel and going to our heart can redirect any negative effects and net some immediate and lasting benefits. Give the Inner Ease™ Technique a try.
Inner Ease™ Technique
1. Acknowledge your feelings when you sense you’re out of sync or engaged in common stressors such as frustration, impatience, anxiety, overload or anger.
2. Take a short timeout and do heart-focused breathing: Breathe a little slower than normal, and imagine breathing through your heart or chest area.
3. Imagine drawing in a feeling of inner ease with each breath and infusing your mental and emotional nature with balance and self-care from your heart.
The State of Ease
The State of Ease author and HeartMath Institute (HMI) founder Doc Childre explains in his e‑booklet that as adults we don’t always remember the wisdom of calming ourselves, as our parents or others did when we were children. When we were upset, hurt or afraid, Mom, Dad or someone would say, “Everything will be OK.” Can you remember how calming those few words were?
Ease can be accessed anytime, anywhere. “Now, you don’t have to wait for turbulence or disquieting emotions to access the state of ease,” Childre writes. “When operating in the ease mode, it’s easier to choose less stressful perceptions and attitudes and re-create ‘flow’ in your daily routines.”

Feeding Flow and Ease into the Field
“The turbulent thoughts and emotions created by today’s rapid pace aren’t confined to each individual,” says HeartMath LLC’s Exec. VP Howard Martin in the webinar, Creating Your Energetic Field Environment For More Flow and Ease Through Life. “All of our thoughts and emotions create an energetic field. … We create this energetic field, and we feed it all the time through our conscious thoughts and especially through our emotions.”
This field affects others as well, explains webinar co‑host Deborah Rozman, so we must take care of it, and practicing the Inner Ease Technique will help.
“Certainly practice ease during a stressful reaction, but you don’t have to wait,” reiterates Rozman, president and co‑CEO of Quantum Intech, HeartMath LLC’s parent company.
“Accessing the state of ease is for prevention, not just for turbulence. … The more you can maintain this inner ease throughout the day, the more you prevent unnecessary challenges and unwanted predicaments.” Rozman and Martin give a detailed description of the Inner Ease Technique and a thorough analysis of the field environment in their informative webinar.
